Puerto Vallarta fishing report today November 10 2016
The day started off a little rough We had some rain and some rough seas early in the morning but the sea settled as the crew made thier way offshore and rain as well. The team aboard the My Marlin went out looking to catch Marlin but one thing all fishermen know is that you cannot always catch the exact fish you want the team tried lures, and live baits and not a bite but did manage to catch some nice sized Wahoo fishing at Corbetena. Wahoo is one of tastiest fish so even though the crew did not catch the Marlin they were after at least they brought home something we could all eat and enjoy.
The Top sought after Game fish in Puerto Vallarta are Marlin, Dorado, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, and Cubera Snapper.
There are many Puerto Vallarta fish species to choose from when fishing in Puerto Vallarta here We will just talk about the game fish that are the most popular and most common to catch on your vacation to Puerto Vallarta. The most sought out Puerto Vallarta fish Species is Billfish. Puerto Vallarta offers 4 type of Billfish to catch Sailfish, Striped Marlin, Black Marlin, and Blue Marlin. The next biggest game fish and sought after catch in Puerto Vallarta is of course the Yellowfin Tuna. Puerto Vallarta offshore Yellowfn Tuna average 100-300 lbs up to 400 lbs. these monster Tuna feed here all year around but most months you need over night charters 80-120 miles offshore or if you are here in September and October you can find these cow fish at La Corbetena or El banco. Next on our list is the Dorado or Mahi mahi. Dorado average size is 10-30 lbs and can be caught inshore and offshore Puerto Vallarta in colder months of the year you will need to travel further offshore but normally in Summer months you can catch smaller Dorado fish inside the bay as well. Another big Favorite is Wahoo. Wahoo fish is one of the hardest to catch and is also normally only in season in September and October but if you are lucky enough to catch Wahoo it is one of the best tasting fish in the world. Grouper and Red Snapper a little bit different then the others so far for this fish species you will need to bottom fish just as fun and both fish great to eat and great fight on the reel.
Other Inshore Puerto Vallarta fish species are Roosterfish, Spanish, Mackeral ,African Pompano, Jack Crevalle, Bonita, Skip Jacks. source
The last few weeks has still been big time fishing offshore Black Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado/ Mahi mahi, Wahoo, and Yellowfuna.
We had big week Black Marlin have been biting at the bank the crew of the Pacific caught the biggest Black Marlin of the week which
was around 500lbs the average was 200-400 lbs which is almost unheard of this time of the year but with water temps still high it looks
like we are going to be seeing Marlin the whole year! Another big surprise was the Yellowfin Tuna starting biting at el banco as well
which we have not seen in a while lately they have been staying further offshore and we were only able to get that far on overnight night
charters but when they are bting at the bank it is a great treat to catch these monster fish on a 12 hr fishing charters. La Corbetena
slowed down for a while but then picked right back up this last week producing Wahoo, Sailfish, and big Dorado. Inshore fishing is good
as well lots of action Jack Crevalle, and Bonitas and few smaller Dorado as well. el moro and Marietas also starting heating up this last
captain Hector found 2 nice Roosterfish there yesterday and also a African Pompano. For more recent Puerto Vallarta fishing reports
